The Big 500 Tiny Giveaway!

Tiny prizes made special-like for a tiny giveaway!

First Prize is this teeny sock monkey. Standing at just 15cm tall, he's the 2nd smallest sock monkey I have ever made (actually the smallest was technically a bear so this probably IS the smallest monkey I've ever made *EXCLUSIVE*). Please remember that my monkeys are not toys and are intended for adult collectors over 14 years of age.

The 2nd and 3rd names out of the hat will each win a hand drawn ACEO (Art Cards, Editions and Originals). ACEOs are tiny art works. At 2.5"x3.5" they are the same size as trading cards and are extremely collectible. These ones are drawn by me with fineliner and painted with watercolour and gouache in an exclusive fashion to match the exclusive giveaway colours.

 HOW DO I ENTER?!?!?!?
  1. Simply leave a comment on this blog post in answer to my question.
  2. Comments left on Twitter/Facebook/Flickr etc., are not guaranteed be counted.
  3. Please leave your contact name and email address in your comment so that I can contact you for your postal address if you win.
  4. You can comment as many times as you like, but your name will only be entered once.
  5. Entries must be in by midnight on Sunday 30th October
  6. I will pick winners names at random from a hat. Or bowl. Or something. Probably on Monday 31st October, but don't quote me on that in case I forget.
  7. My decision is final.
And the question is this:
In the UK, "Monkey" is slang for £500. If you were lucky enough to have a spare £500, what lovely handmade goods would you spend it on?

You don't have to say you would give it away to charity, or buy nice things for your loved ones (and you don't have to say you would buy my monkeys, I won't be swayed by flattery.. haha), we're talking selfish purchases here. And I'm kind of interested to see your favourite shops ;)

FYI: I would start (and possibly finish) by buying a couple of things from this shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/jimbobart

GOOD LUCK!
x

Aww... that's a question....
Hmmm... I would buy... PAPER - hand marbled paper from my book-binder colleague in USA... Hand-printed decorative papers to use for book covers....
Also Books - a fab hand-bound leather journal, in red - I really want a red leather journal!
And other handmade books... and a couple of mini soft toys... and one or two prints from some Facebook and Etsy friends... and ...Oh, lots!!
£500 is a lot of pocket money, but I promise I would spend it wisely (hint, Mr. Lotto person!)
Thanks for the interesting question. Love that monkey by the way - Uber-Cute!

i would buy this I love it :D
and if there was anything left over, i would probably go search for some nice bracelets to go with it :)

A monkey would be worth, as of this writing, a few cents shy of $800. What would I get with that money? Shoes. I am often quite rough on my shoes, yet I know that a well-crafted pair of shoes will last for many years. England still has a few cobblers making their wares by hand, such as Edward Green or John Lobb, so the almost-$800 would go toward buying a nice pair (or possibly two, depending on how casual I go).

I'd buy anything Christmassy and all of Caroline Rose Art's prints because they are fabulous and cheer me up. Your monkeys gorgeous.x

Sal - maybe do half and half? (looove hidden eloise, and cake of course)

Gail - gooood choices!

Deb - ooh cool stuff, crochet foxscarf ftw!

Jen - woooooah, crikey! and there's plenty left over - it's £500 remember not $500, enjoy ;D

Donk - yes, shoes - I'm with you on that one

Anonymous - you have excellent taste! I can't put you in the draw without a name though so please comment again!

Lilypopo - gosh yes, almost all those are in my favourites too. Lovely stuff. I have my beady eye on the Brass Band from Hole in my Pocket now you come to mention it... :))

I'm a dufus!!! I posted places for me to buy things to make!!! LOL

Okay, I'd HAVE to start with my favorite Li'l Bean, Maisy, and buy the latest piece of hers:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/84722232/breast-cancer-awareness-be-well-be-free

and a crocheted peace sign purse,
http://www.etsy.com/listing/72388001/peace-bag-crocheted-felted

and a commissioned piece by FairyWhisperArt:

And a handmade journal from one of my friends who makes them...

and I'd like to take the year long Lifebook 2012 on-line class:

I think that would cover quite a bit...change would go to help friends with their on-line art classes. :)

Thanks for the opportunity! :)
