Happy Thursday

There's a group over on Flickr called Self Portrait Thursday, where every week you can catch a glimpse into the lives of Etsy artists. Its one of those small things in my life that reminds me how fast time flies. And what days it is. On rare occasions I have been able to plan my photo days ahead but recently I have only been reminded at the last minute, so here's another quick snap. You can see how my fringe is settling in (ha), thanks to the lovely Abi Bansal's virtual hairstyling consultation ;D

Thanks to all the peeps that have signed up to my mailing list so far, there's still time to join up and not miss anything - I will start the mailouts in a week or so. In the meantime I will leave you with a new monkey arrival here at Siansburys, a little guy called Stewie:

"Stewie is a monkey who loves pyjama parties, cute stationery and fairy cakes, and whose life's ambition is to become a wedding planner to A List celebrities. Failing that, he would like to live in a gingerbread house deep in an enchanted forest where he can grow lollipops and keep a pet unicorn."

Hope you like him! He's listed now over on Etsy.

Oh also I have broken my domain www.siansburys.net, I will sort it out ASAP.

Bad Blogger

Although it still makes me laugh quite a lot, I am a bit tired of seeing those scary lemur eyes. I do have a new post for you tomorrow which I tried to publish tonight but bad blogger won't let me upload images.

Bah x

Monkey News!

A few people have asked me recently about how they can get updates when I list new monkeys so they don't miss out! Well, there's a couple of ways.

1. RSS FEEDS
Wherever you see this symbol you can click to suscribe to updates which 'feed' directly to your email or to a reader such as Google, MyYahoo or Bloglines (there are many others!). You can subscribe to my feeds on Etsy, Flickr and right here on Blogger!

For more info on RSS, have a look on Wikipedia.

Here's what a list view of Siansburys updates looks like in Google reader:

2. JOIN MY MAILING LIST
If you would like a weekly digest of Siansburys activities including new monkey arrivals, products, offers and competitions, you can now subscribe to my email list. Just click on this link, which you can also access on the right hand column of this blog, and it will take you to the sign up page where you can choose between receiving html or plain text mailings. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the unsubscibe link at the bottom of each mailout.

I hope that helps!
Sian :)

haha what an awesome video :D

Ordinary Beauty

I got my first real six-string
Bought it at the guitar shop on London Road
Played 'til my fingers got all covered in blisters
It was the September of '96 (ish)

This Yamaha acoustic guitar was bought for me for my 19th birthday. Its the only guitar I have ever owned and I wish I spent more time learning to play it! Its just been restrung because Andy wants to learn to play, but he's just been given his first real six-string by our friend Neil who has moved on to bigger and better things ;D

Its a c.1994 red Squier Fender Stratocaster. It is very beautiful, and gets its six strings later this week.

I leave you with the inspiring words from the guy who sold me my guitar all those years ago:

STRUM HAPPY!

These photographs were taken for the 'Day2Day - Take 5 Ordinary Beauty' group on Flickr, set up by the lovely Abi Bansal to encourage us all to take our cameras out of AUTO and improve our photography skills.

This is Not a Fill

Ever spin around in circles until you got so dizzy you fell? Uhh yeah, not for a long time though.

What's the most comfortable thing you own? Everything I own is comfortable!

Do you wear the hood on your hoodie? Yep, I wore it just today.

Have you ever stolen a sign from a street? Um, no...

What was the last thing you were thinking about? Whether or not I had ever stolen a sign from the street.

If you could change your MIDDLE name, what would it be? GziGzi

Is the moon out right now? Probably, its 1am

What's the heaviest thing you own, besides a car? I guess, my Granny's piano.

Do you live on your own? No I live with a man, a cat, a bunny, some fish and 10,000 monkeys.

What's one of your weird quirks that nobody really understands? I live with 10,000 monkeys.

Ever thought about why grass is green? There is a detailed scientific answer to this that takes away all the magic.

Can you build a detailed sand castle? I suppose I could, but life's too short.

What's one of your favorite possessions? Apart from my Granny's piano, a fountain pen that my Mum gave me as a birthday present a few years ago :)

What's in your purse/backpack/other(pockets, wallet...)? Pens, receipts...

How come macaroni and cheese is so good? That's another of life's great mysteries.

What is the most amount of money you would spend on a pillow? I don't know, £10?

Last book you read for pleasure? Just finished 'Two Caravans' and am currently reading 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian' by Marina Lewycka.

If you google your name, what comes up? My website :)

What is the weirdest pet you have owned? I tried to keep a garden spider once but it got away.

Thanks for those fascinating questions.

One Question

"Would anyone like any toast?" **

What sort of world would this be without toast? Isn't toast brilliant? Would you like some? Well, now you can, without any of the mess. ToastMania will spell out any message you wish (as long as it fits on a piece of toast). On toast. With Alphabetti Spaghetti. And then photograph it for you.

If you are worried about wastage, please be assured that 'everything is recycled'. You get an awesome photo/card. Ian at ToastMania gets a tasty toasty snack. Everyone's a winner.
